i unexpectedly got my period three days earlier than i thought i would get it- i have been getting it on the 15th or 16th of the month regularly since October or November but this month i got it on the 12th. I had nothing with me and i was at work! ah! i have no idea how people with children can do it! seriously my cramps kill me i couldnt imagine doing it with a needy child around me (well i guess i kind of can since i work with children). anyway, i had to use toilet paper during my first case (3hrs) then i found the oldest tampon in the world in my car! seriously it has been there since i first got my car 5 years ago! hahaha my mom strongly suggested that i dont use it but i had nothing else and i didnt think the toilet paper was going to work for very much longer (since it was a thursday and those are 10hr days for me). so i used it. it was weird. it was a tampax brand one and they never expand inside of me so when i got home and pulled it out it was the exact same size as it was when i put it in. i honestly have no idea if it really made a difference because i still put toilet paper down just in case the tampon disintegrated inside of me. it was quite an experience and my vaginal canal still cringes at the thought of that tampon inside of me.
on a lighter note.... the mother of one of the kids i work with (the one i was working with when i got mine) got her period that saturday (i was working with them) and she bled so much it got all over his little white chair! i have heard of that happening to people- i must not have a heavy flow because when i was younger my friends would get period spots on whatever they were wearing but i have (thank you universe) never had that happen to me. So i have heard of that happening (i think thats happened to my mom.... maybe its a "i've given birth so i period all over things now" thing) but i have never witnessed it. i am proud to say i handled it like a champ. truth be told i first thought she had cut herself and was bleeding haha i almost asked her if she had cut herself but she chimed in with "i'm so sorry i'm having a period moment." i told her its totally fine and not to worry about it. she said i was sweet for not freaking out because if she were in this situation she would be like "um... excuse me! i dont think so!" hahaha she was also really embarrassed. i told her not to worry or be embarrassed because my friend and i write a blog about our periods so this stuff doesnt phase or bother me. she laughed and said ok. but im sure she was thinking "great and this is who they send me to help my autistic child." i probably would have been embarrassed in that situation too but i would probably play it off like it was no big deal by saying something like "oh sorry... you know how it goes, you flow." unless its a guy then i probably just made dating men seem more appealing hahah in reflection, it was a lot of blood that is why my first reaction was "omg she cut herself on something!" also i dont remember seeing any blood on her pants. it was a weird situation. i am jealous that she doesnt have cramps. maybe that is why i dont have period mishaps like that- i get intense cramps before i start to bleed so i can always catch it before other people do.

Schwinn is alive and well and living with her almost in-laws at the moment :-) but that's for another blog...or book down the road!
I read this and was loving it since I have cleaned my car (ok, the same way people have quit smoking cigarettes) - you know, that concentrated yet ongoing endeavor - (I digress)-I have cleaned my car so many times and always discover five year old tampons and pads - typically Tampax Pearl and Always overnight for the heavy flow I used to have.
For a time, I used to give them away to those in need...maybe they were only a year or two old in the car then...however, a Bio major was doing research on organochlorines in tampons due to the bleaching process, so I brought my entire stash of half full boxes and random trunk riders to her for her research!
